Students hanging out in the Epicenter lounge

Home to Changemakers

The Epicenter began with a question: How can a university help more students become thoughtful leaders who improve the world around them? The answer was a living-learning community where daily life, academic interests, and opportunities to contribute could come together.

Students from every field of study are welcome. Some arrive with a clear cause or career in mind; others are still discovering what matters to them. Through informal conversations, organized programs, and student leadership, residents can explore ideas with people whose experiences differ from their own.

The Epicenter was made possible through the support of Jim and Krista Sorenson and Bob and Lynette Gay, in partnership with the University of Utah. It opened to residents in fall 2024 as part of the university’s commitment to expand on-campus housing and experiential learning.
