Apply to Live at the Impact & Prosperity Epicenter

The Impact & Prosperity Epicenter will open its doors in the fall of 2024 to welcome a community of 778 diverse, passionate, and motivated students to their new homes. Applications for the 2024 – 2025 academic year are now live so here is a simple guide on how you can apply to live at the Epicenter.

Steps to Apply to Live at the Epicenter

1. Apply to the University of Utah (if you haven’t already)

The Epicenter is only available to students admitted to the University of Utah so make sure you have applied for Admission to the University (if not already enrolled). Once your application is submitted, you may complete an Epicenter Application (step 2 below) even while you await admissions acceptance. We strongly encourage you to apply early to provide time to review your application and to learn more about the Epicenter community while you’re waiting for admissions acceptance. Find more campus admissions information here.

2. Complete an Epicenter Application

Next, submit an Epicenter Application form found here. This application will highlight your aspirations for how you will contribute to the dynamic Epicenter community and provide important information on your specific areas of interest (for example, room type preference, etc). The Epicenter application form is now open and we encourage you to apply as early as possible to gain early access to information of upcoming events & activities and learn how you can get involved in early access opportunities further shaping the Epicenter community.

Note the Epicenter application is supplemental to the general campus Housing and Residential Education application and process which must also be completed to secure a spot in the Epicenter.

3. Submit a general housing application with Housing and Residential Education

In addition to completing an Epicenter application, you must complete a housing application with our partners at Housing & Residential Education (HRE).To do this, you must be admitted to the U, submit your enrollment deposit, and have a university identification number (uNID). Learn more about the HRE application and timeline here. Students can complete their HRE application in Housing U via CIS.

Important HRE dates and deadlines are as follows:
-November 1, 2023: Upper-division HRE Housing Application Opens
-January 17, 2024: Upper-division HRE Housing Deadline
-January 17, 2024: First-Year Housing Application Opens
-March 20, 2024: First-Year Living Learning Community/Themed Community Deadline

4. Notification of Acceptance

Students receive notification if they are accepted to live at the Epicenter or placed on the waitlist for the following academic year. Notifications for upper-division students go out in late January and first-year students will receive notification in April. At that time, additional information and a timeline will be provided for room selection.

5. Choose your room

Students accepted to live at the Epicenter will be able to select a room starting in the spring semester of 2024 using the Housing & Residential Education portal. Students who want to work together as teams receive priority access to room together in a double room, a 4-bedroom apartment, an 8-bedroom apartment, or an end-cap community.

6. Move into the Epicenter

The first group of students move in for the academic year starting in August 2024. The Epicenter and HRE teams, as well as teams of move-in volunteers, will be present to help ensure a smooth process for everyone.

7. Become a Changemaker!

Engage in all the Impact & Prosperity Epicenter has to offer as you work to be a Changemaker driving solutions to the world’s great challenges.
